Last time, Goku and and his family were leading the normal life again after peace was restored to earth. This time around, episode 2 focuses on Vegeta’s normal life.
What Happens This Time…
The episode opens with King Kai driving his trusted “steed” — erm, red Chevrolet — around his planet, delivering his corny word games about peace again. His happiness over peace is short-lived though when Goku appears right in his path, forcing him to swerve to the side and consequently damaging his house.
This episode, however, focuses on Vegeta, Bulma, and Trunks’ vacation as a family. While joining a family trip might be out of Vegeta’s character, there’s a perfect reason to that. It was a promise with Trunks during training that if the little one hit Vegeta at least once, he will bring him to the amusement park.
Despite being on a family vacation, Vegeta is still adamant about spending his time training. It goes to show that even when they are traveling by airship, he stands atop of it. Bulma, who is driving the airship, tries to shake him off as part of training. She drives through the clouds, dives underwater, and rampages in the forest — but to no avail.
They spend family time with each other, despite Vegeta being sulky. Bulma and Trunks shop around while Vegeta just goes with them. They ride the kiddie train driven by Trunks and even eat ice cream together (It might shock you to see Vegeta’s ice cream being strawberry-colored!).
Vegeta still prefers training over spending quality time with his family but they — Bulma and Trunks — understand him anyway. When Vegeta loses patience in the middle of an outdoor party and flies off, Trunks even bids him farewell happily, saying thanks. Bulma just chuckles.
Lord Beerus also appears in the episode. It seems that he is impatient about something, especially as he calls his loyal aide Whis. Whis is seen to be traveling to a new world, one where primitive axe-wielding, grunting sound-making alien creatures are hunting a dinosaur-like prey. Whis wants to obtain the prey hunted by the aliens for Lord Beerus, citing that he only has three minutes to complete the transaction.
Before completing the transaction though, Lord Beerus appears. The aide commented that only two minutes and 20 seconds has passed. However, Lord Beerus seemed to not care about that at all. He even casually talks to Whis about a dream he just had. He then proceeds to destroy the planet they were in — just befitting of his title as the God of Destruction. His display of power doesn’t go unnoticed by Old Kai, though.
Back to Vegeta: He is now seen training in the Capsule Corp.’s gravity room. It seems he still cannot let go of the fact that Kakarot, a.k.a. Goku, is the strongest of their race. He is training to get stronger, not only to overcome Goku but to become the strongest in the universe.
Even with the episode of Dragon Ball Super already on its second episode, it still takes time for Dragon Ball fans to get used to the new opening theme. As an avid fan of the previous installments, “Cha-La Head Cha-La” is still fresh in one’s mind that “Chozetsu Dynamic! Dynamic” takes time getting used to.
